Simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil Review

Simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil Review
Simple says their Hydrating Cleansing Oil "removes makeup and dissolves impurities while instantly hydrating your skin leaving it feeling soft an smooth." I've recently fallen in love with cleansing oils and decided to turn to the drugstore when I ran out of my beloved L'Occitane Shea Cleansing Oil. I pawed through my favorite skincare bloggers posts, making notes of everyone's affordable favorites and settled on Simple's Hydrating Cleansing Oil, which seemed to be the most popular budget pick. This cleansing oil contains 125ml (4.4 fl oz) and sells for just $9.99 at Priceline, but I picked it up on sale for just a handful of gold coins. Simple does not test on animals, though it is owned by a non-cruelty free parent company. This product was made in Hungary.

One of the reasons I didn't pick Simple's Hydrating Cleansing Oil up sooner is the packaging - I hate it! This cleansing oil comes in a small plastic bottle with a green flip top cap that opens into a standard pour spout. While I feel like the pour spout prevents wastage, it feels inconvenient and can cause the bottle to be slippery - not to mention it isn't very aesthetically pleasing - everything looks more elegant with a pump. Despite it's overall packaging flaws (in my eyes), I think Simple's cleansing oil is very well labeled, with directions, a diagram and full ingredient list available on the back of the bottle. All packaging is recyclable.

Simple's Hydrating Cleansing Oil is a thin, lightweight, spring green oil that glides across the skin.
This oil emulsifies with just a few drops of water and rinses away cleanly with a washcloth, leaving behind no oily residue or blurry vision. Simple's Hydrating Cleansing Oil effectively removes almost all of my makeup, though it can't quite handle waterproof and water resistant mascara on it's own - I always follow up with a second cleanse with a more 'traditional' face wash. As promised, my skin always feels soft and hydrated after use, without being greasy.

This cleansing oil's ingredient list is super simple. The Hydrating Cleansing Oil is mainly comprised of antioxidant rich grape seed oil with a few texture enhancers added in, as well as a touch of  sunflower seed oil. Vitamins A and E round out the list. This product's ingredients are straight to the point, with no irritating alcohols, essential oils, or fragrances. Because Simple made the wise decision of leaving unnecessary and irritating ingredients out, the Hydrating Cleansing Oil has a raw oil scent.

Simple's Hydrating Cleansing Oil is a great no-frills makeup remover - it's inoffensive and effective, though maybe a little boring. A lot of bloggers I trust love and highly recommend this cleansing oil and I can see why - it's affordable and appropriate for essentially every skin type. I personally won't be repurchasing the Hydrating Cleansing Oil immediately, as I'm always on the lookout for something new, but it's good to know there's an excellent budget option to fall back on! I absolutely recommend this product if you're new to oil cleansing, on a budget, or have sensitive skin.
