Out with the Old - December 2017 Empties

December's Out with the Old post this is massive - I can't remember the last time I've had so many empty products! With a total of 22 products, this is my biggest empties post in well over a year. Click through to read about the products I finished this month, and my new storage solution for them.

Skincare:
My all time favorite face scrub, Lush's Ocean Salt always clears my skin up when it's misbehaving. It took me about six months to go through this tub, and I'll certainly repurchase another one as soon as I can.

I'm a big fan of clay cleansers, and L'Oreal's Pure Clay Purifying Cream Wash is probably the best one I've tried. This creamy clay cleanser kept my skin clear and balanced, and was very enjoyable to use. I replaced it with a high end clay cleanser, and I'm regretting it - it isn't anywhere near as good as this budget friendly option. I'll be buying another tube next time L'Oreal is on offer.

L'Occitane's Cleansing Oil reignited my passion for cleansing oils. I thoroughly enjoyed each use of this silky, luxurious oil cleanser, and I was genuinely sad when my bottle ran dry. I opted to try a more affordable cleansing oil as a replacement, but it pales in comparison to the Shea Cleansing Oil, which I hope to have back in my possession soon.

You may remember me raving about Exuviance's Sheer Daily Protector back in 2016. I ended up giving the tube to Dean because it was one of the only SPF's he'd wear. Turns out without my daily nagging of "wear sunscreen!", he was a bit lax and only just finished it. If it was available in Aus, I'd repurchase it, but I may have to settle for a similar product from Natio instead.

When I bought this bottle of sunscreen back in October I wasn't expecting to find my new favorite, but I did! This sunscreen does an excellent job of shielding me from sun damage, and it makes my skin look fantastic. I've already repurchased (and put a dent in) my second bottle!

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face&Body Sunscreen
I used Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer Dry Touch sunscreen as a body sunscreen on my body for years, but I couldn't use it on my face - it broke me out badly every time it came in contact with my face. I decided to risk it and try the Face&Body formula. While this sunscreen didn't cause any breakouts, it did sting my skin badly with each application. Luckily Morgan and I blew through it in under a month. Not a repurchase for me.

My favorite clay mask! I use Deep Down Detox practically every day, and I don't intend to stop. I'm currently testing another mask from Formula 10.0.6, but when I'm done with it I'll most likely be replacing it with another tube of this fantastic, orange scented clay mask.

Acure Cell Stimulating Facial Mask
This mask is a declutter, not an empty. From the start I never liked Acure's Cell Stimulating Facial Mask, both for it's silly ~cell stimulating~ claims, and it's lack of results. After multiple uses, I'm pretty sure all this mask did was form a tight green film over my skin that left it feeling itchy and unpleasant. I haven't used it in over a year so I'm tossing it.

I wasn't too into the Skyn Iceland Hydro Cooling Firming Eye Gels. While these under eye patches did both firm and cool the skin, the results are purely cosmetic and short lived, they offer no long lasting benefit to the skin and therefore they seem frivolous to me. I wouldn't repurchase, but I do think they have merit as a pampering product.

I'm a bubble mask skeptic, but I did end up really like B.Līv's O2 Bubbly Bright Oxygenating Mask. This creamy, fizzy mask seems to help deep clean the skin and leaves it soft and smooth. Unfortunately I felt like I used it up too quickly.

This was my second bottle of The Ordinary's Niacinamide and Zinc Serum. This vitamin rich serum has worked wonders for reducing redness and minimizing breakouts for me. I recently bought my third bottle, and I'll likely be going back for a forth soon. I blow through this serum, but at a >$10 price point I can afford to be liberal with this excellent product.

I've had these blotting sheets in my purse for YEARS - seriously five or six years. I only just finished them and wouldn't repurchase them if they hadn't been discontinued. I've tried better and more effective oil blotting sheets. I will be honest though, it's a little weird to unzip my bag and not see these oil blotters floating around.

I was super underwhelmed by Soap&Glory's Smooch Operator lip balm, and I'm glad to have it out of my way. This lip balm did very little in the way of providing moisture, it was more of a protective balm, which I don't need in my current climate.

Hair:
I've been using Batiste's Dry Shampoo in a variety of scents for five years now, with no intention to stop. These dry shampoos are effective and affordable, not to mention each scent has it's own fun and unique packaging that adds some color to my sink top. I tend to feature a can of this dry shampoo in each month's empties, but considering I'm working on a jumbo sized can at the moment, I think it'll be a while til you see another can of Batiste is my empties.

After being severely let down by Hask's Chia Seed Dry Shampoo, I was hesitant to use the Monoi Coconut Dry Shampoo, but this stuff is actually pretty good! This dry shampoo adds a little bit of volume while making my hair look and smell clean enough for public. I prefer Batiste's dry shampoos, but I'm not against picking up another bottle of Hask's Monoi Coconut Dry Shampoo in the future.

Hask Argan Oil Healing Shine Treatment
I don't have a lot of thoughts on Hask's Argan Oil Healing Shine Treatment. This argan infused oil treatment was decently moisturizing and helped to detangle my knotty hair - but the real star of the show was the delicious orange fragrance. I'm aiming to try all of these little vials of hair oil from Hask, so I'm now using a different one.

What haven't I already said about Lush's Caca Rouge Henna. I've been using this henna hair color for almost six years, and I still love it. I'm currently in my annual "should I go darker?" phase, but I'll almost definitely stick to red and if I do I'll keep on using Caca Rouge.

Makeup:
This was my favorite eye primer for a couple of years, but after discovering Elizabeth Mott's Thank Me Later primer, it fell out of favor and I hadn't reached for it in at least a year and a half. This tube was well beyond it's shelf life so it's ending up in the bin half used.

Skone Cosmetics Insanely Intense Tattooed Eyeliner
I received this liquid liner pen in an Ipsy Bag all the way back in March 2016, and for some reason we never clicked. I'd use it sometimes, but there was just something about it that I didn't like that I couldn't put my finger on. Eventually it dried up, and now I'm throwing it out.

Kat Von D Trooper Tattoo Liner
I heard endless amounts of praise for this liquid liner pen over the years from bloggers and YouTubers, so I was ecstatic when a friend gifted it to me. While I did really enjoy this liquid liner and found it easy to use, I was a little disappointed by Trooper's soft black color. Nevertheless I used this eyeliner up to the last drop, and I'd probably buy it again in the future.

I love Pixi's Endless Silky Eye Pencils, but I never found too much use for Oyster Glow. Though the shade is pretty I rarely used it, and it ended up becoming very dry and falling out of the pencil casing. Eventually it became too difficult to use, so it's being tossed.

This mini lip gloss was in my collection for a long time! I got this little gloss in Benefit's Rockitude Kit in August of 2014, and used it all the time - yet I only just finished it now! It was kind of amazing how much product they managed to pack into such a tiny squeeze tube. I loved this shiny rose gold gloss and I'm determined to find a cheaper alternative.
By the way, I picked up this nifty mint bin for my empties a couple weeks ago! It was $7 at Kmart Australia, and is just a little bigger than I wanted it to be (it doesn't quite fit in my storage cubes), but it offers plenty of room for lots of empty products. What do you keep your empties in?

What have you finished lately?
