Oz Naturals Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser Review

Oz Naturals describes their Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser as a "proprietary concentrate of 92+ Ocean Minerals in a highly bio-available therapeutic facial cleanser. These ocean minerals nourish and repair dry skin, blemishes, skin lesions, and rough, damaged skin, while botanicals soothe and stimulate cellular regeneration. Safe for all skin types, this product is a truly restorative facial cleanser." This 72% organic face wash contains 4oz (118 ml) and sells for $22.49 in the brand's Amazon shop. Oz Naturals is cruelty free and vegan friendly. The Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser is made in the USA.

The Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser comes in an attractive aqua squeeze tube with a white flip top cap. I seriously love the color of this cleanser's packaging! The lovely aqua color is complimented by the use of white lettering - the Oz Naturals logo and product name are printed on the front of the tube, directions and ingredient list can be found on the back. Packaging is recyclable.

Oz Naturals' Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser is a runny, clear gel cleanser that builds into thin lather. The Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser is best used with a konjac sponge or wash cloth, otherwise it'll run straight through your fingers - I feel like I use a lot of product per cleanse, because its so thin and yields such an insubstantial lather. This cleanser's results are similarly unimpressive...I've been using the Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser for a month, day and night, and I haven't developed any strong feelings for it. It's just ok. This cleanser is alright for a morning wash to take down any excess oil without stripping, but it doesn't go out of it's way to do more than that. Oz Natural's Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser does absolutely nothing to remove makeup, but even if it did I wouldn't recommend it, as this cleanser burns and irritates my eyes quite a bit! All and all, after a month of twice daily use, I haven't seen any impact on my skin. The Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser doesn't cause acne or treat it, nor does it strip my skin or hydrate it. This product just simply provides a mild cleanse.
I have some qualms when it comes to the Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser's ingredient list - had I read into it more, I likely wouldn't have applied for this PR campaign. This face wash has a gentle aloe base, with a high concentration of MSM, a sulfur concentrate that Oz Naturals claims to be incredible important in skincare, but has no actual proven topical benefit. So that's awkward. The following ingredient is lavender infused water, which has no place in a skincare product, because lavender is an irritant and is theorised to cause cellular destruction. Following this problematic inclusion is a handful of gentle surfactants and the product's namesake, an ocean mineral blend. The rest of the ingredient list is a mixed bag, featuring irritating sage and oregano extracts and various citrus components, countered by purifying tea tree oil and moisturizing olive, rose hip, and borage oils, plus a couple of vitamins. The Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser is a collection of good and bad ingredients, making the formulation seem kind of random and poorly planned. On the plus side, this cleanser is fragrance free, and has no true scent to it, just a hint of a mineral-y smell that isn't noticeable during or after use.

I don't like Oz Naturals Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser, it doesn't really do anything for me, and I happen to disagree with multiple ingredients. If I were to look past the ingredients, I'd say that the Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser would be a passable option for those with normal skin that were looking for a fuss-free daily face wash, but there are better options on that front as well. In a way, Oz Naturals' Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser reminds me of an even more mediocre Pacifica Kale Detox Cleanser - thin texture, ineffective natural ingredients, and lack of results. To end this otherwise negative review on a positive note - I really like using this cleanser to wash my brushes - its gentle and effective - that's how I'll be finishing my bottle.
