YSL Fuchsia + Rose Stiletto Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick Reviews+Swatches

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks
YSL's Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks "deliver lip colors that exude ultimate feminine strength and edgy style. Give lips luxurious, rich color with intense hydration and antioxidant care in just one stroke." YSL offers their gorgeous Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks in an astounding 42 shades; today I'm featuring Rose Stiletto (#9) and Fuchsia (#19). Each of these luxurious designer lipsticks contains 3.8 grams (.13 oz) of product and retail for $36 at Sephora and Nordstrom. Unfortunately, YSL is not cruelty free. These lipsticks were made in the brand's home country of France.

The Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks have stunning, high quality packaging. These lipsticks come in heavy, rectangular, mirrored gold tubes. The black YSL logo is the only detail decorating the otherwise plain yet striking tubes. The lipstick bullets scroll up and down smoothly, showing an intricate engraving of the YSL logo. The shade number is listed on the bottom of the tube - if you're looking for the shade name, or an ingredient list, you'll need to take a look at the outer packaging - an equally attractive golden box. I just adore the Rouge Pur Couture packaging, it so luxe and I feel very posh when I pull one of these lipsticks out of my bag. My only complaint is that the shiny gold tubes show fingerprints and residue easily - they end up looking a bit grimy after a while. Packaging is not recyclable.

Enough about the packaging, let's get on to what's really important - the formula, which is incredible! The Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks are exceptionally smooth and creamy, they glide onto the lips with ease. Both Rose Stiletto and Fuchsia are packed with lightweight pigment, all of the swatches below show a single swipe. YSL's Rouge Pur Coutures are quite comfortable and moisturizing, masking any lip perfections you may have.

Wear isn't quite as flawless as this lipstick's texture. These lush, luxury lipsticks are very prone to traveling; they transfer off and slip out of the lip line easily. I highly recommend using a lip liner or lip primer in conjunction with YSL's Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks.

These high end lipsticks have a fairly strong rosy floral scent, and a hint of a similar flavor. It isn't necessarily unpleasant, but I could do without it, honestly.
YSL Rose Stiletto Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick Swatch
Rose Stiletto (#9) is described as a "rich berry rose". I really adore this shade. Rose Stiletto is a neutral, slightly browned rose shade with a cream finish. This is an excellent every day shade, deeper than a nude if you're fair like me, but it has a similar, natural effect. If you aren't sure what shade to choose, either for yourself or as a gift, Rose Stiletto would be an excellent choice. On me, Rose Stiletto lasts about three hours, fading evenly and leaving behind a light stain that lasts another hour or so.
YSL Fuchsia Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick Swatch
Fuchsia is a bright and bold fuchsia with a blue undertone and a cream finish. This lipstick takes some serious guts to wear, its a real eye catcher. Fuchsia lasts around four hours on me; it fades a little unevenly, but it leaves a strong, true to color stain that lasts about two more hours. YSL's Fuchsia is not my color, but it would look incredible on medium to deep skin!
YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks
YSL's Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks are excellent! These designer lipsticks have a comfortable, pigmented formula, contained in stunning, luxurious tubes. While I could never justify spending $36 for a lipstick on a whim, I do think the Rouge Pur Coutures make an excellent treat for yourself, or a gift for someone special. With 40+ shades to choose from, you're bound to find a color that you love, but if you're overwhelmed by choice, Rose Stiletto is an excellent starting point. Swatch a couple of YSL's Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks some time, I think you'll be as impressed as I am.
