Sugarpill Royal Sugar ChromaLust Pigment Review+Swatches

Sugarpill call their ChromaLust pigments "glamorous, sparkling loose eyeshadows that outshine them all. These ultra fine, metallic powders combine show stopping color with adhesive elements for long lasting wear". Sugarpill offers their ChromaLusts in 21 shades, today I'm reviewing Royal Sugar, one of the brand's signature products. These loose eyeshadows contain 4 grams of product and are fairly priced at $13. Sugarpill is cruelty free, and most of their products, including Royal Sugar, are vegan friendly. This product was made in America.

Sugarpill's ChromaLusts come in colorful boxes that offer plenty of product information and a full ingredient list. Sugarpill's pigment jars are stout, round little things, with no sifter included. The black twist off cap bears the Sugarpill logo; the shade name can be found on a label on the bottom of the jar. Unfortunately, packaging doesn't seem to be recyclable.
Sugarpill Royal Sugar ChromaLust Pigment Close Up
Sugarpill's Royal Sugar is such a diva! This pigment is very finely milled and causes a ton of sparkly fallout, so have some make remover or scotch tape on hand during application. Royal Sugar performs poorly on it's own, and even over a primer it comes across quite patchy and sheer. Royal Sugar really benefits from being patted onto a white sticky base, or applied wet. This pigment is really at it's best when foils - payoff doubles and the color just comes to life! If I'm honest, Royal Sugar doesn't blend well, the base color loses a lot of it's intensity, and the glitter flies everywhere. This loose shadow wears pretty well on me, it usually holds up for about seven hours before it starts to fade and crease.

Royal Sugar is described as a "striking, bright blue with a heavenly burst of turquoise diamonds. The perfect hooker blue for a sweet girl like you." Royal Sugar is a beautiful, bright royal blue with silver and aqua glitter. Foiling this pigment really brings forth the shimmer. Sugarpill's Velocity eyeshadow is very similar in color, but it has a matte finish (and a pressed formula).
I have mixed feelings about Sugarpill's Royal Sugar ChromaLust pigment. This loose pigment is kinda problematic - it causes a lot of fallout and payoff can be patchy if you don't use the right kind of base. Royal Sugar is so beautiful, though! This blue is so vibrant and stunning! I love foiling it and using it as an eyeliner. If you love the color and can look past the fussy formula, pick Royal Sugar up, but I wouldn't call it a must have.
