NYX Envy Wicked Lippie Review+Swatches

NYX say "take a walk on the wild side with our jewel toned lippies available in 12 shimmering shades. Velvety smooth with a dazzling metallic finish, these richly pigmented lipsticks will leave your lips with the ultimate spellbinding look." I have four of the twelve shades, today I'm reviewing Envy. Each Wicked Lippie contains 4.2 grams (.15 oz) and sell for $6. NYX is cruelty free. This lipstick was made in Taiwan.

NYX Wicked Lippies are housed in black plastic tubes; the NYX logo and product name are printed on the front of the tube. The shade name and number are indicated on both the top and bottom of the tube. I hate this lipstick's packaging so much! The twist mechanism is super weak, not even strong enough to hold the lipstick up, causing the bullet to slide back down into the tube during application. Packaging is recyclable.
Initially, I didn't like Envy - it was waxy, patchy, and had less than perfect pigmentation. Turns out, I just had to work through a waxy outer layer. Once the layer is gone, NYX Wicked Lippie in Envy is quite nice! This bold lipstick has a smooth texture that helps it glide onto the lips. The emollient consistency ,ales this lipstick very comfortable to wear - its so hydrating its almost balmy. Envy still needs two layers to reach full opacity, but its far less patchy than it was before. Envy has good lasting power, but slightly problematic wear. This beautiful blurple lipstick usually lasts about 2 1/2 to 3 hours on me. Like most moist lip colors, Envy tends to transfer off and has even ended up on my teeth a few times. However, that isn't my main annoyance with this lipstick! Envy irritates me because it wears off in a really uneven way, leaving me with ring-around-the-lips. That's bothersome enough with a red or pink lipstick - but wow does it look unattractive with blue! Envy will stain the lips as well. NYX Wicked Lippies have no scent or flavor.
NYX describes Envy as a "royal metallic blue with silver shimmer." Envy is a gorgeous bright royal blue with a strong purple influence. Envy contains small bits of silver shimmer; the individual flecks aren't visible on the lips, instead they come together for a frosty metallic finish.
NYX Wicked Lippie in Envy is a gorgeous, bold but surprisingly wearable blue lipstick. This lipstick has a hydrating formula that's quite comfortable! Envy lasts a decent amount of time, but its a little problematic. I don't love the left over purple tint, If you want a bold blue purple lipstick, try NYX Wicked Lippie in Envy! Its gorgeous, fun, and affordable.
