Benefit PosieBalm Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm Review+Swatches

Benefit says their new Hydrating Tinted Lip Balms will give you "A perfect pucker! PosieBalm conditions&hydrates with mango butter and sodium hyaluronate. This poppy pink tinted kiss of sheer, buildable color gives you the softest, prettiest lips." Benefit released a shade to match each of their four iconic lip&cheek tints. The Hydrating Tinted Lip Balms contain 3 grams (.10 oz) and sell for $18. I was lucky enough to get PosieBalm for free by redeeming my Birchbox Points. Benefit does not test on animals. This lip balm was made in France.

All of Benefit's Hydrating Tinted Lip Balms have adorable packaging - can we expect anything less from Benefit? This lip balm came in a pink cardboard box. The product name and a few metallic flowers adorn the front of the box. A description, directions, and ingredient list can be found on the back of the box. PosieBalm is housed in a round, plastic, metallic pink tube (that was a real pain to photograph, plus it holds fingerprints). Little pink flowers wrap around the cap, which fits snugly onto the body of the tube. Lightweight and sturdy, Benefit's lip balms are great for on the go. Unfortunately, packaging doesn't seem to be recyclable.
I was disappointed when I first swatched the whole line of Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm range when they first hit Ulta. Now that I actually have one, I've warmed up to the formula. PosieBalm has several conditioning ingredients like jojoba, mango butter, vitamin E, and hyaluronic acid. This silky lip balm melts on to the lips like butter. PosieBalm is a midweight lip hydrator that feels exceptionally smooth on the lips, not at all sticky, tacky, or greasy. Benefit's lip balm is adequately moisturizing, both preventing and healing chapped and dry lips. The hydration delivered by Benefit's PosieBalm lasts about five hours or so. I'm a little disappointed that these balms don't contain any SPF. My strongest dislike about PosieBalm? The flavor. When I was young, I had a play lipstick that had this exact same artificial floral scent and flavor.
PosieBalm looks liek a bright pink in the tube, but it's essentially clear on it's own. Multiple swipes will build up a hint of light, yellow based, pink color. There's no visible shimmer or glitter in PosieBalm, it offers a light, glossy finish. As intended, PosieBalm pairs wonderfully with PosieTint. It boosts the pink tint, just a little, but the glossy finish really brings the color to life. PosieBalm is similar to Mad for Magenta from Maybelline's Limited Edition Pinked Baby Lips Collection.
I like Benefit's PosieBalm. The packaging is cute and well made. The texture of this balm is slick but not slippy. This balm provides a nice level of moisture, though it isn't the most hydrating one on the market. PosieBalm has very little color payoff, though it compliments the matching tint nicely. Benefit's Hydrating Tinted Lip Balms aren't a must have, especially considering the price point. They're like a ritzier version of Maybelline's Baby Lips, which I love, and are fourteen dollars cheaper. That being said, I can't help but want the other three shades - or at least BeneBalm.
