NYX Blue Velvet Macaron Lippie Review

NYX new Macaron Lippies are kinda a big deal - they're the mostly widely available, wallet friendly range of uncommonly colored lipsticks. NYX says their Macaron formula is "packed with pigment and has a satin matte finish for long wearing resilience" A total of twelve non-traditional shades are available - this review features Blue Velvet. Macaron Lippies contains 4.5 grams (.16 oz) and sell for six bucks a pop. NYX is cruelty free. This lipstick was made in Taiwan.

My only gripe with NYX Macaron Lippies is the shoddy packaging. These bold lipsticks have disappointingly bland packaging - they come in black plastic tubes, the NYX logo and product name are printed on the front of the tube in white letters. A full ingredient list can be found on the side of the tube. The shade name and number are labeled on the bottom of the tube. On top of being dull, the Macaron Lippie tube is poorly constructed. The twisting mechanism is very weak, the lipstick bullet scrolls down on it's own, with no pressure needed. Packaging is recyclable.
I'm so pleased to report that NYX' Blue Velvet Macaron Lippie has an awesome formula. Wow, this is such a good lipstick! Blue Velvet is rich and creamy, it smooths onto the lips. This lipstick is super pigmented, laying down an opaque layer of color in just one stroke. Blue Velvet feels smooth and lightly moisturizing on the lips. I get good wear from NYX' Blue Velvet Macaron Lippie, it stays true to color for nearly three hours. This bright lip color is quite prone to transfer - good thing my coffee mug is the exact same color as Blue Velvet. Be warned, this lipstick does stain the lips a bluish purple hue. I haven't noticed any scent or flavor in the Macaron Lippie line.
Blue Velvet is beautiful! Yinz know I love anything blue, so you're probably not surprised that I love this shade. Blue Velvet is a bright, true blue with no visible shimmer. NYX calls it an electric blue, but I don't think it's quite that intense. Blue Velvet has a satin finish.
NYX Blue Velvet Macaron Lippie is a dream come true for me! I've always wanted a blue lipstick and this one is just perfect! This lipstick is creamy, pigmented, and wears well. Blue Velvet is an awesome midtoned blue that's gorgeous on its own, and useful for mixing. I just wish that this lipstick line had better quality packaging. If you're looking for a great blue, or other usual lipstick shade, I encourage you to try NYX Macaron Lippies.
