LA Splash Splashproof Sealer Eyeshadow Base Review

LA Splash says their Splash Proof Sealer Eyeshadow Base "intensifies color and provides extra protection against smears and smudges for flawless 12 hour wear." This eyeshadow base contains 9ml (.3 fl oz) and sells for $9 or so. I bought this product at Sydney IMATS where it was demonstrated on me by a very helpful brand representative. LA Splash does not test on animals. This product was made in the USA. LA Splash products can be bought through the brand's website, Cherry Culture, and at trade shows.

LA Splash Splash Proof Sealer has gigantic packaging for an eyeshadow base! The product is housed in a clear rectangular bottle topped with an unnecessarily long, tapered grey cap. The front label offers the product name and LA Splash logo.A full ingredient list is printed on the back of the tube in nearly invisible letters. This primer has a doe foot applicator. Packaging does not seem to be recyclable.
LA Splash Splash Proof Sealer is a translucent white substance similar in consistency to glue. Spread over the skin, it has a tacky texture that really helps glitter and pigment adhere to the skin. Helping eyeshadow and glitter stick is just about all LA Splash's base does. This base barely boosts color payoff. As for preventing creasing, it does the bare minimum. The Splash Proof Sealer keeps my shadow crease free for six to seven hours - half the amount of time LA Splash promises.
LA Splash Splash Proof Sealer Eyeshadow Base is a good glitter glue, but a subpar primer. This product is very helpful for getting loose and pressed products to stick to your eyelid, but it won't boost payoff or prevent creasing or fading. The price is very fair. Packaging is functional, but large. If you use a lot of glitter or loose pigments and are willing to use a second primer as well, this may be worth picking up. If you're looking for a eyeshadow primer to prevent creasing and fading, opt for something more along the lines of NYX HD Eyeshadow Base or Too Faced Shadow Insurance

  1. I have TF Glitter Glue, but before that I was seriously considering this since Unique Desire (kassie) clearly loves it. My problem with this though, is the lack of availability. Thanks for the great honesty in the review :)

    1. You know, Jennifer Wan really raves about this base as well, and I almost always trust her opinions. To each their own, I spose.
