Pixi Poppy Red Succulent Lip Twin Review+Swatches

Pixi says "give yourself a lip loving treat with this duo lip nourisher. The natural oils and extracts condition and protect your lips - all while adding a quick tint of face awaking colour with our unique lip&cheek creme (conveniently located in cap). In the tube: multi purpose lip balm to sooth&heal dry lips. In cap: solid lip&cheek colour creme for when you need a quick pick-me-up of concentrated colour." Pixi offers their Succulent Lip Twins in six shades, I have Poppy Red, which I picked up off of HauteLook. This product contains 14 grams of product and sells for $18. Pixi is cruelty free. This product was made in America.

Pixi's Succulent Lip Twins have chunky packaging. The clear, squeeze tube features a floral print and the Pixi logo. A round nub of product is housed in the tube's spring green cap, its simple to apply, but easily knicked. The gloss nearly impossible to apply on the go - at least not in any way that's sanitary and convenient. There's no form of applicator, so the thick gloss comes out in a glob that needs to be smoothed out with a finger, or a brush if you happen to have one on you. While I like the concept of the packaging, I think its a little clumpsy and difficult. Packaging is recyclable.

I like half of this product, and hate the other. All around, I'm not really a fan..
The Lip&Cheek Creme, that little nub in the Succulent Lip Twin's cap, is the portion of the product that I do like. Pixi's Poppy Red Lip&Cheek Creme is quite smooth and emollient, making it a pinch to apply. I particularly like using this product as a cream blusher - I just bounce it against the apple of my cheek and blend, for a believable flush that lasts about six hours. The Poppy Red Lip&Cheek Creme is equally as easy to apply to the lips, This lip cream offers light color payoff, in a comfortable, hydrating, balm like formula. This lip color last about two and a half hours, without transferring or slipping. Unfortunately, this product has a terrible, plastic-y vanilla flavor.
The Multi Purpose Lip Balm is bad. Firstly, this is a gloss, not a liquid balm; and it manages to be both very thick, and very oily. The Poppy Red gloss is surprisingly pigmented, it'd be nearly opaque if it wasn't so uneven. Pixi's Multi Purpose Lip Balm slips out of my lip line and will transfer off onto anything your lips touch. The glossy color lasts about an hour, and it leaves behind a true to color stain that lasts an additional hour or so. Just like the Lip&Cheek Creme, this gloss has a gross, artificial taste.
Pixi describes Poppy Red as a "pretty strawberry red", which it is! Both the gloss and balm are a light red with strong pink tones. The Lip&Cheek Creme is muted cooler, and more pink, and the Multi Purpose Lip Balm is brighter, bolder, and more red. There's no shimmer or glitter in either product.
Pixi's Poppy Red Succulent Lip Twin was a disappointment for me. I like using the Lip&Cheek Creme as a blush, its so dewy and flattering. The gloss is a hot mess though; oily, slippy, and uneven. The two products layer nicely, for a bold, summery red lip, but the problematic gloss makes it a pain to wear. Pixi seems to be doing away with their Succulent Lip Twins, they're now listed as "Last Chance" on the brand's website. Skip this lip duo, even if you find it on clearance.
