Garnier Clean+ Balancing Daily Exfoliator Review

Garnier says their Clean+ Balancing Daily Exfoliator "deeply cleanses away oil and impurities. Infused with antioxidants, grapefruit, and pomegranate, which soften dry areas to balance skin. Excess oil is removed and skin is smoother." This oil free exfoliating face wash contains 150ml (5 fl oz) and sells for $8 or so at drugstores and major retailers. Sadly, Garnier is not cruelty free. This product was made in America.

This cleanser's packaging is attractive, but I have some problems regarding it's functionality. Garnier's Clean+ Balancing Daily Exfoliator comes in an opaque, white squeeze tube. A slice of grapefruit and some pomegranate arils adorn the front of the tube, along with a couple of claims. The back of the tubes offers additional claims, directions for use, and a full ingredient list. My problem with the packaging is that the flip cap is misaligned, so it cannot fully close, causing product leakage. Packaging is not recyclable.

Garnier's Clean+ Balancing Daily Exfoliator is a thick, translucent light pink gel with fine, white, artificial exfoliating granules. This facial scrub foams up a lot - wow I did not expect this much lather from a scrub! Despite being jam packed with scrubby bits, this product fails to be effective when it comes to exfoliation. Though this product isn't much of a scrub, it is a decent cleanser than can remove light makeup and excess oil. Personally, I prefer to use it as a follow up to the Clean+ Nourishing Cleansing Oil. This thick, sudsy scrub can be difficult to rinse off, I feel like I can splash and splash and there's still traces of this cleanser on my face, which leads to occasional irritation and itching. This face wash has a strong pomegranate and grapefruit scent that's pleasant but unnecessary.

I'm not wowed by Garnier's Clean+ Balancing Daily Exfoliator. The packaging is poorly constructed. For being marketed as an exfoliating cleanser, its not a very effective scrub. This is a decent cleanser, but not much more than that. The formula is overly fragranced and difficult to wash away. I'll finish off my bottle, but I wouldn't repurchase or recommend this product.
