MAC Satin Taupe Eyeshadow Review + Swatches

MAC describes their eyeshadows as "highly pigmented powder" that "applies evenly" and "blends well." Variety is certainly the spice of MAC's life, they offer a massive selection of eyeshadows - 126 shades in total. Today I'm reviewing Satin Taupe, one of the most popular shades. Each MAC eyeshadow contains 1.5 grams (.05 oz) and sells for $15, or $10 for a refill pan. MAC is no longer cruelty free. This eyeshadow was made in Canada.

MAC's Eyeshadow refill pans come in black cardboard envelopes bearing the product na,e and brand logo. A pull out insert offers a full ingredient list. Each eyeshadow comes in a round metal pan with a magnet affixed to the back. The shade name can also be found on the back of the pan. MAC offers a variety of palette sizes to pop their Pro Pans into.
Satin Taupe is a surprisingly firm eyeshadow. Because Satin Taupe is so firmly pressed, it kicks up no excess powder at all. Despite the hard texture, its easy to pick up product. Satin Taupe applies well and blends like a dream. I've never experienced any fallout when working with this eyeshadow. I've heard a lot of bloggers mention that some MAC eyeshadows swatch poorly but perform very well on the eye and I've found that to be true about Satin Taupe. This eyeshadow seems lightly pigmented initially, but it can really pack a punch on the eye. I've have nothing but great wear from Satin Taupe - it lasts upwards of ten hours over a primer.
Satin Taupe is a beautiful, true medium taupe with a frost finish. This shade is really a great balance between grey and a tan-ish brown. Satin Taupe is one of those shades that looks different from every angle and in different lighting. After a quick swatch-fest, it seems as though Satin Taupe can't be duped by any of my other taupe eyeshadows. There's really something special about this seemingly plain Jane shade, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
I love MAC's Satin Taupe eyeshadow! This is an all around good eyeshadow - easy to work with, well pigmented, and long wearing. Satin Taupe is a basic, yet some how unique shimmery taupe. While I don' think its quite the must have some bloggers make it out to be, but its a great staple shade that anyone will get a lot of use from. I definitely recommend MAC's Satin Taupe.
