Maybelline's Color Elixirs, this product is somewhere between a lacquer and a gloss. The Colour Riche Extraordinaire formula is slightly thick and creamy in consistency. The creaminess makes this lip product a little difficult to apply in an even layer. Caramel Solo is quite pigmented, it lays down a fully opaque layer of color in just one swipe. This lip product feels moisturizing and slick on the lips, though it doesn't seem to actually nourish the lips. The thickness of Colour Riche Extraordinaire gives the smoothed over look L'Oreal promises. This glossy lacquer is kinda messy, it transfers on to cups, straws and cheeks; plus it tends to slide off the lips and on to the face. Not even factoring in the transferring, Caramel Solo still only wears for about hour. Colour Riche Extraordinaires don't have much of a flavor, but they do have a scent that's difficult to describe. Its vaguely synthetically fruity, but something about it reminds me of pudding? Regardless, the scent is not too strong and unoffensive.
Caramel Solo isn't my personal cup of tea (it looked different online when I chose it.) Caramel Solo is a mid toned, warm brown with a brick red undertone. This shade doesn't have any shimmer at all; Caramel Solo sports a very shiny cream finish. Sadly, Caramel Solo's reddish undertone doesn't really translate onto my lips - so the color shows up as a dated, unflattering brown. The red tinge seems to come out stronger in my photos than it does in person. On deeper skins, Caramel Solo could be so lovely, but it looks a little off on my fair skin.
L'Oreal's Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lip Colour in Caramel Solo is only ok to me. The packaging is a little bland in my opinion. The formula is just alright. Color payoff is awesom, but the rich texture makes it difficult to apply evenly. This lip color doesn't want to stay on my lips - it smears a and transfers easily. Caramel Solo isn't the color for me, but I do think it'll be great for warmer, medium to deep skin tones. I don't really enjoy the formula, so I don't think I'll try any other shades. I do not recommend L'Oreal's Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lip Colours, I think Maybelline's Color Elixirs are a better quality, slightly cheaper alternative.
please excuse my photo quality, I'm not home and have very little control over lighting. I'll try to update them when I can.
