Avon Brightening Concealer Review (Light)

Avon's Brightening Concealer contains "light reflecting pearls to help dispel dark circles, fade away fine lines, and optically airbrush imperfections." This highlighting concealer is available in three flesh toned shades and one shade meant purely for illuminating. These pen style concealers contain .047 fl oz (1.4ml) and retail for just $3.99. Avon's Brightening Concealer has been discontinued in the US, but it's still available elsewhere. Sadly, Avon can no longer be called cruelty free. This two in one concealer is made in the USA. Avon products can be bought through your local sales representative or ordered online.

Avon's Brightening Concealer comes in a black pen style container. The product name is printed on the front of the tube in white lettering. Removing the cap reveals a brush tip applicator. The base of this pen twists, causing product to push up through the brush. This brush tip is good for applying product into the general area you want it, but don't bother trying to blend with it.
Avon's Brightening Concealer has a thin, creamy consistency that's surprisingly difficult to work with. You need to begin blending this concealer IMMEDIATELY, otherwise it'll gum up and refuse to budge. Let me just say that this is a pathetic excuse for a concealer. I get it, illuminating concealers often don't have much coverage, but Avon's doesn't offer even sheer coverage. This 'concealer' will also settle into any fine line and exacerbate their appearance. Applying Avon's Brightening Concealer to my under eye takes me from 21 to 31 in seconds. So I think I've established that this is a god awful under eye concealer...but how does it work as a facial highlighter? Awesomely. Avon's Brightening Concealer is a lovely, extremely natural looking concealer that catches the light beautifully. The Light shade of this concealer/illuminator is a light, yellow based beige with very small but numerous flecks of silver and gold shimmer. The high shimmer concentration gives this product a slightly white reflect. Despite the glitter, this highlight doesn't appear glittery on the skin, just quite luminous.
Avon's Brightening concealer is a terrible concealer, it'll settle into any fine line it can weasel it's way into and it provides little to no coverage. However, it makes a wonderful illuminator that'll provide a radiant, skin-like finish. That being said, I wouldn't recommend Avon's Brightening Concealer, at least not to most, seeing as the formula is difficult to work with.

  1. Too bad that it is difficult to work with. I got a bunch of Avon stuff from this TV show I went to and many of them did not work for me...

  2. I've had bad luck with Avon products too. So many better choices out there.

  3. Avon is very hit or miss for me. Their eyeliners and lip products are pretty dependable in my experience, but everything else is a little questionable.
