Be a Bombshell Hot Mess Lip Gloss Review

Be a Bombshell is not a brand that I understand. They seem to have some sort of subscription service, but you can also, but you can also purchase single products from them, I guess kinda like Julep, but the way they explain themselves isn't clear. Anyway, Be a Bombshell describes their lip gloss formula as "long lasting color and high shine." Be a Bombshell offers a total of fourteen shades, I have Hot Mess, which they call a "true, opaque red". I received this gloss in my December Ipsy Bag. This gloss contains 3g (.11 oz) and retails for $14. Be a Bombshell products are cruelty free ad made in China. Be a Bombshell products are exclusively available through the brand's website.

Be a Bombshell has very cute packaging. This gloss came in a black cardboard box with the brand logo on the front of the box and a full ingredient list on the back. The tube is plastic, cylindrical in shape, and topped with a black cap. The tube is entirely plain aside from the Be a Bombshell logo and a sexy lady's silhouette. The shade name can be found on a label on the bottom of the tube. This gloss comes with a basic doe foot applicator.
I don't particularly enjoy Be a Bombshell's gloss formula. This gloss is on the drier side, it has a strange pull to it during application and has a clingy feel to it on the lips. Despite the strange feeling on the lips, this gloss looks nice. Its nearly opaque, but not quite there, and the finish is more satiny than glossy or shiny.I'm under the impression that Be a Bombshell's gloss is more of a liquid lipstick than a traditional gloss, except in one major area - wear. This gloss has very poor wear time, I can only keep it on for about 20-30 minutes, 40 max if I don't do much talking. That's pretty bad for a gloss that's meant to be long wearing.
Hot Mess is a great red! Be a Bombshell was a little bit off when they called it a true red, I feel like it has a bit of a pinker tone to it than a classic red lip. Hot Mess is nicely pigmented and can be worn sheerly or built up to be quite bright and intense. A slightly pinky red like Hot Mess looks great on anyone at any time; it was a great shade selection by Ipsy. Hot Mess is entirely shimmer free, which keeps this shade very flattering.
I'm on the fence about Be a Bombshell's Hot Mess lip gloss. The texture is kinda off and the wear is very poor. The color and pigmentation are really nice and the packaging is adorable, but is this lip gloss really worth $14? Not at all. If you're going to invest that much in one gloss, go for a MAC gloss. If you don't want to spend that much on a good gloss, and really you shouldn't have to, it won't be hard to find a similar shade with a better formula at a drugstore price point.
