NYX Round Lipstick in Saturn is a frosty wine-berry shade. This lipstick line includes over 120 shades, and is promised to be cruelty free, hypoallergenic and paraben free. I received this lipstick in my June MyGlam bag. As many of my long time readers know, NYX Round Lipsticks are among my favorites, so I was pleased to get one in a Glam Bag. NYX Round Lipsticks sell for $4 and contain 4.4g of product. NYX can be bought on the brand's website, Cherry Culture and other e-Tailers, as well as in Ulta and select drugstores and Hot Topics. NYX lipsticks are made in China.
NYX Round Lipsticks come in simple, cute, recyclable, black plastic twist up tubes. The cap, which snaps on firmly but isn't hard to remove features the cute NYX logo and the tagline "Lip Smacking Fun Color" on the front, the color name and number on the top, and a full ingredient list and company info on the side. A small clear plastic bit containing a little piece of rubber at the bottom of the tube accurately shows the color. Oh wow, actually I just pulled it off and it's more lipstick! It's rubber on my other ones! Cool. Anyways, NYX Round Lipsticks are sturdily packaged and the perfect size for purses or pockets.
The color of Saturn is a frosty cool toned raspberry-ish win color. A great fall shade. It's a darker shade without being very deep, very wearable, at least for me. The frostiness is a little unflattering, but I can get away with it if the rest of my makeup isn't very strong. I like the color of Saturn, but it's something I never would've picked for myself. I prefer coral shades over berry and wines. Like many NYX Rounds, Saturn has a lot of subtle dimension to it. This shade has a lot of blue tones to it, but it doesn't cross over into the purple range of wine lip colors. The frostiness has a hints of gold too it, really interesting.
The texture of Saturn is no where near as slick as most NYX Rounds, which are slippy but comfortable. Saturn is a little stickier and drier but still not bothersome, if you find it uncomfortable some gloss out help the situation, I think Buxom's Big&Healthy Lip Polish in Sugar looks great over this shade. Because it's less slippery than most NYX Rounds, it wears a little better. I can get almost three hours of wear from Saturn, which is fantastic for me.
A common complaint about the NYX Round line is that they smell and taste like sunscreen. That's certainly true for some shades, but in the case of Saturn it's nearly undetectable.
NYX's Round Lipstick in Saturn is pretty good. The berry-wine color is wearable but frosty with an interesting twist. The texture is slightly drier than I expect from this range, but that's a positive, it helps this lipstick stay in place. I think I'll be wearing Saturn quite a bit this fall. If you're fair like me and have a hard time pulling off the wine shades that are very trendy this fall, Saturn is a good wearable choice, plus it's fairly priced and good quality.
