Bath&BodyWorks Aruba Coconut Shower Gel Review

Bath&BodyWorks Aruba Coconut is one of the three scents from their Island Escape collection from late this winter; the other two being Rio Rumberry and Bali Mango. This is a limited edition scent that is currently being phased out online, only a few products are left; your local Bath&BodyWorks might have a better selection. This is my second Bath&Bodyworks Shower Gel. I purchased my 3 fl oz travel sized bottle in store for $3.33 on a 3/$10 deal. A travel size bottle can be purchased individually for $5, or you can opt for the full, 8fl oz size for $11. Bath&BodyWorks products are cruelty free and made in the USA.
Packaging is a clear, recyclable plastic bottle in the same curvy shape as all Bath&BodyWorks Signature shower gels. The bottle is topped off with a bright blue pop up cap.  Aruba Coconut's imagery is pretty, but kinda abstract. An orange, pink, and yellow sunset is painted across a bright blue sky, with black and metallic green palm leaves in the foreground. The name of the scent is written in metallic gold lettering. It's bright and eye catching; it definitely suits the scent, but it's kinda hard to decipher unless you really stare at it.
Bath&BodyWorks shower gels are "supercharged with benefits that make it the world's best daily luxury. It has been formulated to provide the ultimate shower experience; pampering you with luxurious lather, moisturizing aloe, and nourishing Vitamin E that gently cleans, softens, and fragrance your skin". Ok Bath&BodyWorks calm down, you don't need to be so full of yourself. I mean it's great that you're confident in your products, but aren't you over doing it at least a little bit? I don't think Bath&BodyWorks shower gels are anything special. They lather pretty well, so you barely have to use any, but other than that, I can't think of any other "super charged benefits". It's definitely not the world's best daily luxury. That's clearly the internet, or maybe Dr. Pepper.
Aruba Coconut is a really pretty, bright blue gel with a thin, but not watery consistency. Like I said, it lathers really well, so even after at least 8 uses, I've barely put a dent in my bottle. It doesn't really have any exciting qualities like moisturizing or exfoliating, it just cleans you up. To be honest, I just like to look at Aruba Coconut, it's so blue and pretty.
Bath&BodyWorks describe's Aruba Coconut's scent as "an island blend of creamy coconut, exotic lychee, and white musk". It's definitely on the cool, fruity, beachy side of coconut scents. In the bottle it smells very coconutty with hints of a deep, sophisticated musk. On the skin the coconut aspect of the scent remains the same, but the musk seems to disappear, giving way to the tart berry scent of lychee and a little bit of creamy vanilla, which adds some warmth. To sum up, Aruba Coconut is a coconut-berry-vanilla with the littlest bits of musk. I like it. Somehow Bath&BodyWorks managed to make a fruity-beachy coconut have a slightly mature edge to it. Unique, but not the most unique coconut scent I've smelled. Aruba Coconut isn't a very strong scent, it's actually quite soft. A good late spring-early summer scent.
Because of the softer qualities of Aruba Coconut, it barely lingers on the skin after your shower. Obviously layering with the scent's lotion or body spray would improve longevity, but I have neither. I don't even have a similar scent to layer it with.
I like Bath&BodyWorks' Aruba Coconut shower gel. The scent is soft, but also fruity and exotic, and creamy and musky. It's mesmerizingly blue, though I don't think the color blue suits the scent. Aruba Coconut seemed to be the least popular scent from the collection, but it's my personal favorite. I recommend this is you want a light tropical scent for summer. It's not Bath&BodyWorks best scent, but it's pleasant. Hurry up and get Aruba Coconut before it's gone.
